Menu does not show but play shows then disappears

I have some short mpg files and a large one. When I burn the small files as a separate dvd, or the large one as a separate dvd, it works fine. When I put the files together as one dvd, it is inserted, then "loading" shows on the screen, then "play" shows and disappears but the menu never shows. I have tried several dvd brands.

Here are my system details:
Create menu is checked

Movie Factory 6, boxed version with all updates installed.

Video Card : Geforce 4 128MB

Hard Drive : 80GB

General tab: checked items, VCD player compliant, anti flick, always show..,
Max 30MD...,Check Ulead...
Resample qual... Good
TV system NTSC
Slide show duration, Video tans..., Audio fade... all are 3

Advanced tab: nothing checked, TV safe 10%
Capture tab: Checked Stop tape ... , format JPG, quality 100

Video data rate: Variable (Max. 7000 kbps)
