Yes, I must agree mine has started installing again at boot up adding 12 mins to startup time it appears this problem has been completly ignored by Ulead/Corel, the program should never have been released without a working installer for Vista.

All of my other software from Adobe to Microsoft does not inhibit this behavior just have to wait and see if a patch/fix is issued, pity really because the program is excellent.

I get the same problem on Vista (the installer asks for the PIX3 disc).

I've looked at the results-none relate to PhotoImpact.

Your missing the point, the list of Google hits reveals that this is a Windows Issue - notice the wide variety of programs affected.

Look through those hits and try and find something that may be affecting your system. Also check this link:

I solved the problem-it no longer reinstalls as long as I don't delete the Ulead folder in my temp folder.

That's interesting and thank you for sharing the cure that worked for you.
has anyone else with this problem tried this cure and if so did it work for you?
If so I can include it in our FAQ list.

I can confirm if you do not remove/clean out the Ulead folder in your [user] temp folder, Photoimpact will not keep reinstalling, Windows/Temp is not affected.

I do clean out the temp folder, and have removed it. However I don't have the re-install problem.

There are a couple of Corel processes that I have disabled in msconfig. Those being the CorelIOMonitor.exe, and Corel PhotoDownloader.

Hi Guys
I too have PI X3 installed on 2 machines 1 has the problem the other does not.
They both run Xp Pro with Vista side bar installed and noticed that the PI X3 re install would start every time if I tried to lauch the side bar exe, having said that it has also launched when using Office Outlook a couple of times also.
I originally thought it may have been some bloat-ware type hook, but monitoring the processes you see the msiexec.exe start first but can not see what caused it to launch.
I only installed PI X3 a few days ago and will look at the link suggested.
I have noticed that this problem is becoming more of a problem with a number of different applications that are causing this bug for a want of a better word. :?:

I would also look closely at your Vista sidebar. If you're running XP then anything like that may precipitate problems. Try uninstalling your sidebar and see if you still get the re-install issues..

Hello Ron
That is one of the things I was to try, but the re install seems to time out for a period before it starts to try to launch again.
The NEC that is the one that it is happening to has booted fine twice now and trying to create the scenario by trying the sidebar.exe option has not caused the msiexec.exe to launch.
Will wait until it starts happening again and do the process of elimination.
It really is strange but threads have said it has happen trying to use IE as well.
It appears to becoming more of compatibility Vista OS bug?
Has Corel heard or aware and will when it becomes more of a problem will provide a patch for those who need it?

I, too, have this happen. It seems to occur each time I do a disk cleanup.

This is not Vista specific. On my XP machine, while I was removing MSN Explorer and Instant Messenger, the installer activated. I simply clicked cancel.

Like others, I can not replicate this. I've tried re-installing those apps and then removing them several times. However the installer did not kick up during these following attempts.

The file CorelIOMonitor.exe is present with both Corel MediaOne and PaintShop Pro X2. I have no idea what this file does, so I kill it using Task Manager every time I notice it active.
