Adding clips to library.

Post by MikeB51 »

Hi Team.
I have a Sony HD camera and it uploads video to my hdd as MPEG clips. When I use the library manager and look at the clips, the ones from my JVC mini-dv camera (AVI) files show the first frame of the clip but the MPEG's are shown as an icon and the only way I can see them is in the preview if I play the clip. Could someone please tell me if this is normal or what I'm doing wrong.

Thank you.

Mike.

Hi Mike

This is not normal, usually the clip/thumbnail shows the first frame when viewed in the library.
A lot more info is required.

You do not say what version of VS you are using.

By HD I assume you to mean Hard Drive.

What are the properties of the HD mpeg clip?

Have you installed the recommended drivers from the install discs Utility option.

Hi Trev.

I'm now using V11.5 Plus but had the same issue in 10+. Just to clarify, in the actual library window I see the first frame, it's in the "Open File" window I get the MPEG Icon.

Yes I did mean hard drive, not "High Definition" (unfortunately).

When I go right click - properties there is not much there it just says MPEG and the size and date, however, I'm using the Sony transfer software and I notice that it saves a file with the extension "MODD" and one with "MPEG" if this sheds any light.

Maybe I will have to just capture direct into VS.

:?: :?: :?:

Are you saying it saves two files for each video? it might be that the VideoStudio library does not recognize the MODD extension and so doesn't know how to display it as a thumbnail.

Yes it saves the 2 files but what is confusing me is that in the open file box it doesn't display it but once in the library it does. I might try doing a normal capture with VS and see what happens. It's just so much quicker with the Sony software.

Thanks again.
