Creating Widescreen MPEG2 for Dvd

Post by CptHawkeye »

Hey all,
Our movie we're working on is now set up as a decent looking widescreen DIVX, but I want to convert it to MPEG2 so that I can burn it to a DVD later. THe problem is, I cant seem to find a way to create a widescreen mpeg2 in msp (I have 6.5). Any ideas?

Not sure about 6.5 but for 7 you go to file>create>video file..... from the drop down "save as" menu select mpeg.....hit the option button to the right then go to the general tab (should be the middle one) and the aspect selection is at the bottom.

Yeha 6.5 wont let me select anything widescreen, only 4:3. but there must be a workaround...

You can use Restream to change the header file without reencoding but you have to demultiplex the video first.

http://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=Restream

There's a guide below for changing the field order using this that will set you in the right direction.

BTW if your authoring application supports 16:9 you can always change it there.
