Contour shuttle jog shuttle controller

Post by silversurfer2 »

Hi Ron, I generally keep to the Video studio forum to learn about computer editing. I notice you run this segment specific to editing/equipment in general.
I have an enquiry post currently running on the studio forum re. using a remote 'mouse like' controller.
As I have little response I wonder if viewers here might have experiance with one of these controllers? I am posting the reply from Contour in New Hampshire USA asking for ulead technical information. I do not know how to contact the tech. people in Ulead. Thanks for any tips you give SS2 (V sorry if this extra post upsets any site rules, Ted) message below.

You called me late last week with a question regarding ULead VideoStudio 11 and using frame by frame motion to navigate through the timeline/preview mode. I have downloaded the trial and had some time to mess around with it, and I certainly see what it is you¡¦re saying. It seems the right and left arrows are reserved for controlling marker positions for the start and stop of the clip. I have yet to find any keyboard shortcut which will move frame by frame, forward or backwards within the preview standard playback mode. That said, because I have downloaded a trial, I only have limited access to their customer support. Would it be possible for you to file a help ticket simply asking as clearly as possible whether or not there is a keyboard shortcut available for moving frame by frame (as the playback buttons do) during the preview/playback mode? And if not, whether or not there is a way to assign one? If ULead is intent on decent customer support they should get back to you one way or another, hopefully with something to make some progress.

Hi,

I read that post on the remote mouse controller, however I've never used one, so could not provide any meaningful input. Most of the time on this web board, if you're not getting a reply, it's due to members not having any experience or knowledge of the subject.

There are some keyboard shortcuts for VS, and are listed at the back of the User Guide/Manual. I know for TBYB versions, no help file or manual are provided in the download. However it can be downloaded from Ulead's website..http://www.ulead.com/vs/documents.htm.

The keyboard shortcut for advancing 1-frame is CTL+T, for going back 1-frame is CTL+U. Not very intuitive. I would also think that they would use the arrow keys for this.

Hi Ron, thanks for your prompt reply. I did fig. that nobody had used this really usefull gadget. I bought it back in 2004 to use with Pinnacle 10, and it worked fine, best part of using Pinnacle!
I did find the shortcut keyboard strokes in back of manual but there was no option ot relate these keystrokes in the contour menu, thats why I rang to US and spoke to a tech. guy.I assume the keystrokes are the same in 10 as 11 as they have only been able to download 11. (Also, the shuttle was listed as being compatable with versions 6 and 7, back in 2003/4). The device is suposed to be recognised by Ulead automaticly, no need to programme jog wheel etc.
Give them their due, they did email me back after trying the 'trial' version. I will relay your link to them as the trial version has no operating manual ? If they want to contact Ulead/Coral direct is there an email link to the technical help dept.? I am not sure if tech. help will deal with users direct, or pheripheral device producers ? sorry for double posting ! ted

If there is an email address for Corel's tech support I don't know what it would be, other than what is listed on Corel's website. I would suspect that Corel's tech support would be willing to talk to the techs from the mouse wheel on the phone.
