Hi,
Struggling to get a good quality smooth video file from my panasonic mini DV camcorder to the PC.
This is the PC Spec
Dell
P4 3ghz
1GB Ram
60gb HDD
Firewire 4 to six PIN via PCI firewire card
I have configured the capture to be DV-AVI format, and selected project properties to be AVi @ 720x572 and have achieved best results using Type 1 AVI compression.
I am using the latest version of ulead by the way.
When i capture the video, the screen on the camcorder shows the smooth image as i would expect. The PC screen shows the same image, but it can only be described as jerky. playback after capture also suffers with this.
I have noticed that ulead runs nicely until the DV device is recognised - from there on it runs very slowly. Ulead recognises the correct DV device etc but something is obviously amis for it to be so unresponsive and jerky.
I have made sure all programs are closed - but the PC has Norton 360 installed, which it doesnt seem possible to close. i have disabled Norton protection, but i assume it still runs in the background somewhere.
Can anyone suggest anythign i can do to make things run a bit better?!
Many Thanks

What are your project properties (File>Project Properties). They should match your clip properties (right click on a clip). Mini DV should be Lower Field First. My guess is your project is set for Upper Field First.

Can we assume that your reference to a frame size of 720 x 572 is a typo, and that it should be 720 x 576 (which is the standard SD PAL frame size)? Can you also confirm that you live in a PAL country and that your camera films in PAL format.
Apart from that, though, like Black Lab, I can only think that something has gone wrong with the capture module in VS11 and it has not automatically changed the field order to Lower Field First which is required for DV capture.
