Is there a way to seaparate a clip in DVD MovieFactory 5.6

Post by ambikas »

I have HD camcorder CanonHG10 and I got DVD MovieFactory 5.6 with it.
When I do some recording, it stores in clips.
Suppose I have a clip of 5 sec and I want to cut the first 2 sec and keep the last 3 secs. Can I do it using DVD MovieFactory 5.6?

Thank you.

DVDMF 5.6 is an SE (Special Edition) that is provided with some camcorders. The way to do this in DMF6+ is with the Edit Room. Currently I don't have DMF5+ installed to check it, however IIRC, this was a new feature in DMF6+.

I pulled up the manual for DMF5, to refresh my aging memory .. To cut the clip, move the playhead using the jogwheel, playhead, or using the timecode spinbox (box with the numbers), to the location you want to make a cut. Then click on the scissors icon, far right.

Apparently I dont have MF6+ installed now in my PC. But I had tried the trial version of this one. And unfortunately I couldn't find a way that MF6+ can recongnize my clips. My clips are stored in InterVideo WinDVD Media File, I think M2TS format.

I'm not up on the Hi-Def video file formats, such as M2TS, AVCHD, ect. However what little that I have garnered, the "TS" refers to a Transport Stream, and I think that it needs to be "PS" program stream.

You can find a fews days reading if you will do a search on the forums, using the keywords such as M2TS, AVCHD, h.264, and you might insert the name etech6355 into the Author's box.

Etech is our resident expert on the newer video file formats.

Just load your video into the timeline and TRIM the video using the trimmers.
Then you should have an export feature (I think MF 5.6 has an Export Icon).

Ron,
Yes, the Edit Room Icon is usually disabled when you load an avchd video file and they are in the TS format.
The Edit Room is also disabled for Mpeg2 TS video, so it needs to be converted to PS if you want to edit the video.

If you want to edit avchd video or hd-mpeg2 in Transport stream then use VS11+.
