Hi Ken, sorry to trouble you with this but I've checked the support pages and can not find anything that reflects my issue.
My problem is, is that when I burn a dvd, it plays fine in my computer, but in the set top dvd player, it plays the video but no audio. I'm not sure if I should be hitting something differenet, I tried many different things and nothing works.
I'm using dvd-r and dvd+r. My set top dvd player has never had an issue with either.
I hope you can help. I really appreciate it.
thanks, Paul.

I have received the following email. I have reminded the sender of Board policy for Moderators not to reply to such emails in any substantive way as this deprives other users with similar problems of a potential solution: Here is the message:

First, can you confirm which program you used to burn the DVD. I have assumed it was Video Studio and have posted your question accordingly.
Second, we need to know exactly which properties you used for your burning project, particularly the audio. If it was Dolby, then I don't know of any DVD player which cannot play a DVD with that audio format on it.
If you used mpeg layer 2 audio, then that could potentially be complicated. I am assuming from the way you spell 'defense' in your email address that you are American and that your DVD therefore uses the NTSC DVD standard. Now strictly speaking, the NTSC DVD standard does not include mpeg layer 2 audio (though PAL curiously does). Most modern NTSC DVD players will play it, however. But if you have an older player, it may not. You would need to go into the menu of the player and check what audio formats it can play.
If you used standard LPCM audio, then, like Dolby, it should normally play as this is the rock standard audio for home made DVDs for both NTSC and PAL, and Dolby is in fact an added extra. But again you may need to adjust a setting in your DVD player to set it for LPCM. I have one DVD player which will play just about anything round and silver, and play it well, but when I inserted my first home burned DVD which used LPCM, I recall all too well that the player would not play the audio either. But when I checked the audio settings for the player, I found I could enable both LPCM and Dolby.
Let us know what happens!
