Playback faster than 1000%

Hi, I have video of a sunrise which goes for about 30 mins. I would like to speed this up so it is only about 10 - 20 seconds.

If i put it to maximun playback speed it is reduced to about 1.5 mins.

I then created a video file from this, put it back in the timeline and again made it faster, so it is now about 20 secs.

Is there any better way to do this? It didn't appear to look bad at all, but I am thinking of filming a sunset that might be an hour or two, so to reduce this I might have to render more than twice.

Any suggestions?

Thanks Heaps

What is the format of the clips on your timeline? I would expect your technique to work better with DV avi than with mpeg-2, since you're rendering it twice.

The other way to achieve a similar result would be to use a time-lapse capable camcorder, such as some Sony models.

Don't know why I didn't think of this before, as I have done it this way.

Click on the clip on the timeline that you want to speed up or slow down. Hold the Shift key while you click on the right yellow trim handle, moving it to the left to speed up the clip, or the the right to slow down the clip. As you know the timeline defaults to 1 second increments. By zooming in on the timeline you can adjust those clips by the frame, instead of a percentage if you make the adjustment via Playback Speed.
