Hi, Wim:

I'm still using a dual core system for MSP - but am also curious about how MSP8 works with a quad core system...
Hi Al,

it took a while, but I think that I can decide now which way I¡¦ll go.
I have the feeling that a quad core CPU will not bring much improvement compared with a dual core CPU in terms of speed and/or fail safe. Even when it comes to the stability of MSP8 editing HD, you seem to be much better of with dual than with quad.
My choice wil be XP Pro Intel E5300 2,6 Ghz 2Mb dual core RAM 4 GB. Hope I don¡¦t regret.
Strange that so many members read this thread, but nobody has written some experiences.

A decent dual core system is probably the way to go, then... These things are all so much faster than where when MSP8 was release a couple of years back. Whatever we end up using, they never seem to render fast enough anyway <g>...

I have been impressed with MSP's continuing capability, though - I bought a small (cheap) HD camera last summer and the video just drags right off the SD card in the camera onto the timeline. I really didn't expect it would be that easy.

On a slightly different note, even though it's very quiey, I hope this forum stays available for the foreseeable future - I was in here the other day looking for some information I'd long since forgotten about, but was able to quickly find here with a simple search. It's a good resource as both the manual and help system is hit and miss in places.

Regards, Al
