Video won't display on projector with WINDVD 4

I am using Windows XP and when I try to display a video with my projector the control panel shows up on the projected image and there is a black screen where the video should be. The video displays properly on my computer screen. I have tried looking at all of the settings and have no idea why this is happening. ANy help would be appreciated
