My buttons are missing!

Post by chinabus »

I have been using VS11 for a couple of months without any problems. However, last night I tried to add another overlay track for the first time and couldn't - there is no "Overlay track manager" button on the toolbar. Nor are there any buttons for "Enable smart proxy", "Batch convert" or "Enable 5.1 surround". I can find no reference to how to enable these buttons, and have even tried reinstalling the software from the CD-ROM to no avail. Can anyone advise me what to do to get the full complement of buttons on the toolbar? (I'm sure it must be something simple!) I am running on Windows Vista.

Do you have VS11 or VS11 PLUS? It is only the PLUS version that has the extra overlay tracks (and thus the overlay manager)...

Mind you I have no idea if it is only the Plus version which has smart proxy ore ven Dolby 5.1. Hopefully someone else with the knowledge will jump in now to confirm or deny...

I don't have PLUS, just the basic edition. However, the manual which came with the software (and there is no mention of the plus version anywhere in the manual) clearly shows these four extra buttons and makes frequent reference to their functions. Therefore, I would feel very angry if these advertised features were not, in fact, present in the software I bought.

Ken is correct..

The "vanilla" version, VS11, has only 1 overlay track so there's no need for the overlay track manager. Dolby Digital 5.1, SmartProxy, Distort Clips, are some of the other features that are only available with the Plus versions.

VS Comparison Chart

When they write the manuals for these plain and plus versions, they only write one. Since the Plus versions just have more "bells and whistles". Did you purchase your version online?

Doing a little research and reading, you can tell what is and is not included with the various versions. The link posted above sets out what is provided with each version.

The only one you can be angry with is yourself..;)

And I am afraid the Manual is a one size fits all... In other words, it is written with VS11 PLUS in mind, but is the same version which comes for VS 11 vanilla edition. Don't blame us, though. We don't work for Corel... The assumption is that you would have done your homework before buying the program and thus would know of the difference between the two version from the link Ron has provided...
