VS11plus crashes when recording audio from the mic

Post by joun »

Hi,

I'm using VS 11.5.0157.2 and it works great except that when I try to add some voice over trough the microphone it crashes. It happens all the time when I press "Stop" (after "Record Voice").
I installed recent Direct X and the following updates:
Ulead VideoStudio 11 Plus Power Pack
Ulead VideoStudio 11 Update Pack
and it didn't help.

Any suggestions?
Thanks!

J.

Thanks Clevo, I checked my audio drivers and they appear to be up-to-date. All other audio applications (like Audacity) work fine...

For what it is worth, I have VS11.5 (the same version as you) on a Vista Ultimate computer (see my System button for details). I have just inserted a random DV type 1 file in the timeline, then used my attached microphone to record some audio. It started and stopped perfectly and the audio played back well. I am thus unable to replicate what you might have done...

In any case, that was interesting to me since in fact I have never before used a MIC with VS11.5 as I always do my voice-overs in another program. That gives me far greater control over the final sound of it and I can trim it and apply filters if necessary. But I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by the good quality of the audio recorded direct by VS11.5+.

Is there any anything special about your microphone or computer set-up? What operating system do you have?

Ken, thanks for the reply! I use XP SP2. I tried to be smart and decided to use Audacity for my voiceovers. However the program now shuts down when I try to edit video clips even without sound! How weird is that... I'll try installing some registry cleaner to see if it's going to help. (but not before I do full system backup :) )
