Is DTS audio supported

Post by n3wb13ondvd »

I would like to know if Movie Factory supports DTS. I don't want to purchase it yet and neither download the trial version until I have confirmed that DTS is supported.

Anyone please?

Thanks

I don't know, because I don't want to install DTS to my PC, but I do have DVDMF6+ installed..;)

If your DTS=Digital Television Signal....
DVDMF6+ Manual wrote: Ulead DVD MovieFactory is capable of capturing video from different video sources such as DV and HDV camcorders and VCRs, analog devices, and TV tuners.

Capturing is the process of transferring video from your camcorder or other video sources to your computer. When you have properly set up your equipment for capturing, the video feed from your source device should be visible when you play the source tape in the Preview Window of the Capture Video dialog box. If your display card supports TV output connection, you will be able to view your video on a TV monitor.

Capture source devices are categorized into three classes: Analog TV, Digital TV, and DV Camcorder/HDV Camcorder. To capture video, click Import and then Capture from Devices in the Launcher. You can also click Capture video in the Select Source and Import...
It does support Dolby Digital 5.1, Surround Sound..;)

I'm pretty sure it's not "officially supported", so you'd have to try it. I doubt it would recognize a separate DTS audio file, but it might accept a pre-encoded, pre-multiplexed, MPEG-2/DTS file. (Movie Factory does not include a DTS encoder.)

If you are using a licensed DTS encoder (such as Surcode) I recommend you check with the encoder supplier to find out what DVD authoring software their output-files work with.

If Movie Factory doesn't do what you want, you might look-into DVD Lab. (I don't own DVD Lab, but it appears to be far more "flexible" than Movie Factory.)

Note that a DVD with DTS is not compliant unless it also has an LPCM or Dolby track. NOt all DVD players can decode DTS. And, Movie Factory does not support multiple soundtracks.

DTS (also known as Digital Theater Systems), owned by DTS, Inc. (NASDAQ: DTSI), is a multi-channel digital surround sound format used for both commercial/theatrical and consumer grade applications. It is used for in-movie sound both on film and on DVD, and during the last few years of the format's existence, several Laserdisc releases had DTS soundtracks.

The former Ulead Range of Products allow you to produce Dolby , LPCM, and MPEG Audio but not DTS.
