HDV preview "project" works, but "clip"

Post by MC76 »

Hi,

I want to giv my VSS11+ another try...

Yesterday i tried to fix some Problems but 2 oft them are still there.

I have a fresh Vista Business Thinkpad, T5250 4GB Ram and two SATA HDD's.
First i got an error when i want st start capturing from my Canon HV20 HDV Cam, but this error was gone after nwe installation of VSS but before installing the hotfix.

But 2 Problems are still there:
when i choose preview "project" it works, but if i choose "clip" the preview window stays black

and the smart-prxoy files won't start to be created, they ars still in the list in th proxy-manager, but nothing happens.

do you have an idea what i could try?

Best regards

Markus

Operating System: Vista Business (very fresh installed)
Motherboard: Lenovo R61i (Santa Rosa)
Graphic Card: Intel GMA x3100
Sound Card: Realtec 888
Processor: Intel T5250
Hard Disk Drive: 1x160GB SATA Fujitsu internal, 1x160GB SATA in the Ultrabay (changeable drive slot for DVD-Burner or 2nd HDD)
Memory: 4GB Kingston

Describe your problem:

When HDV editing, the preview of the clips doesn't work.
http://www.chip.de/ii/147530098_5749d0f11e.jpg

Below the preview window are 2 buttons, "preview project" and "preview clip". When "preview clip" is choosen the previewscreen shows nothing. When "preview project" is on, the preview works fine.
This problem ist only with HDV files and not with avi.

Properties of your source files (format, file size, where did you get it?):
The Files are short clips from approximate 0,5min to 7min m2t files captured with VSS11+

and the 2nd problem it don't start renderin the proxy files

Project Settings (important):

Output format (file, DVD, VCD, SVCD): Avchd-dvd but rendering is not the problem

PAL or NTSC: pal

Error Codes (if any): no

Product Version: VS11+

You didn't give your clip properties either (right click on a clip) although I assume they are HD, but your project properties are not (24 Bits, 720 x 576, 25 fps).

You want your project properties to match your clip properties. Do that and see if you still have problems.

VS11+ generation of proxy files is very slow.
I would turn off creating proxy files.
Set your Project Settings to:

Mpeg files
Set the format first changing it to Mpeg2

Compression tab video format = MPEG2
Video Bit Rate = Constant 25000kbs
Audio = Mpeg audio stereo @ 384kbs

Then make the framesize 1440x1080
Fielding = Upper Field First
Aspect Ratio = 16:9

When you recorded/captured the video on your cam (to the tape) did you capture in the standard HDV format or one of the other modes such as 24P.
Normally you would capture in the standard HDV mode which is 1440x1080@25MBS Upper Field First

If you have Proxy files enabled VS will try to preview using the proxy file, it's it's not created or VS has a problem creating it then..........not sure if this is what's causing your problem or not.

Your computer may be fast enough to process the videos without having to use proxy files.

@Black Lab, my clips are 1440x1080 i50 m2t (mpeg-2 transport stream)
but i found an new error caused by the ivivideo.ax, my explorer crashed when i wanted to look in the folder where my videofiles are in.

This was the fault report:

@etech6355, i tryed other parameters, but with no success, the clips won't play in the "preview clip" mode, and proxy is off.
But i found it won't play the preview ind the "clip" mode if the files are untouched, when a filter ist applied like color-correction or speed-correction + or -1% it will play the clips or some others it will play in "clip" mode, and when the filter is undone it won't

I think there ist a big problem in my VSS espacially in this ivivideo plugin...

Do you have some ideas how i could try to fix it ?

I could fix the Explorer-crashes, i deinstalled the Windvd-5 und the Capture Service Driver which was on my PC as a addon from IBM und installed the Windvd-8 from th Ulead Bunus CD which came with VSS11+.
Now the Crashes are gone.

But this had no effect on the preview, the preview doesn't start in the "clip" mode.
And a little thing i forgot to tell earlier, everytime when i go to "preferences" and if i change a parameter, i get a error when i click to "OK".
The parameter is then changed, but i get an error massege which says:
"false value set" or something like that, i can only try to translate it because i use the german version, the original message is "Falscher Wert gesetzt"
But it keeps the change stored regardless the message.

It's running now like ich should.
The final solution was uninstalling the shark007 422Codec-pack and installing the k-Lite mega-codec-pack.

Sorry, but the solution is NEVER to install a mega codec pack of any kind, including K-Lite. They cause more problems than they are worth if they are installed in full just as they are. They are a huge package of codecs simply thrown together for quantity rather than quality. The codecs in it will often conflict with each other, as well as with other codecs already on your computer -- which sounds like what happened in your original set-up.

I would suggest you uninstall K-Lite as well. If you need some specific codecs, then reinstall just the K-Lite control panel, select the codecs you want, and download them but NOT the whole pack...

And if you ignore this warning, at least remember next time you have troubles that someone at least did try to want you...
