contour shuttle express for ulead 10+

Post by silversurfer2 »

Hi Folks, couple of years ago I started using this little jog shuttle device with Pinnacle studio 10. Wasted loads of time trying to get studio 10 to work, but the jog controller was excellent at scrolling/fast forward etc.
I would like to use it with Ulead but it goes haywire ! even though I select Ulead 7 from it's menu (no mention of later versions, but probably similar) and I downloaded latest drivers V.2.7.5, it has no usable control over timeline functions.
Has anybody experience of using this handy device (it could help me control the 'scrub marker' from flying off the time line, as it gets to the right side). Any tips welcome thanks SS2

I think you may also need to let us know your Image system specifications.

The Coutour Design website mentions Video Studio 6 & 7 (at the bottom under Ulead) but nothing newer. :? You might try contacting Contour to find out if that info is up to date, or if they have some newer drivers or something...

Sorry,
Medion MD 8800; Pentium D core 2 duo 3gb; 1024, Sdram memory. 320 external e.sata linked hard drive for video editing; Ulead 10+ on C drive. All driven very badly by me, a NOVICE PC user !
I did visit the site suggested but it only goes to version 7 and I rang the UK contact number, but they seem more interested to promote a new multipurpose mouse now, nobody has rung back as they promised to give advice. Hence my enquiry here, to see if anybody has a shuttle in use with Ulead, it certainly was 'the bee's knees' shuttling around Pinnacle, until it crashed!
Thanks again for prompt reply, SS2
Update; rang to Contour design In USA. they said it should work (but they would, would'nt they!) anyway even talking me through the complicated install it would only jog clip by clip instead of frame by frame. They are going to look into studio 10 to see what may be wrong. In mean time anybody who has used this shuttle device with any ulead studio version would be usefull. thanks SS2

Still trying to get my jog shuttle controller to interface with ulead 10.
Does anybody know if the keyboard commands are the same or similar for 6 and 7 as to version 10 ?
the device has drivers for 6 and 7, or is programmable to other keystrokes (if you can work out how to do it !) any suggestions welcome, SS2

Key strokes for moving frame by frame in ulead 10/11

Post by silversurfer2 »

Hi folks,
further to my previous enquiry re.Contour express jog shuttle device to control the timeline actions in video studio.
I have had a reply from Contour technical advice team in USA, asking for Ulead technical experts to feed back information to enable the appropriate keystrokes to be mirrored, via the Contour express jog shuttle device.
I have copied the complete email reply here so you 'computer experts' (praise works wonders, I hope !)can understand what the guy needs and if there is a means to relay this request to Ulead, as he suggests.

Thanks SS2. message follows;-

You called me late last week with a question regarding ULead VideoStudio 11 and using frame by frame motion to navigate through the timeline/preview mode. I have downloaded the trial and had some time to mess around with it, and I certainly see what it is you¡¦re saying. It seems the right and left arrows are reserved for controlling marker positions for the start and stop of the clip. I have yet to find any keyboard shortcut which will move frame by frame, forward or backwards within the preview standard playback mode. That said, because I have downloaded a trial, I only have limited access to their customer support. Would it be possible for you to file a help ticket simply asking as clearly as possible whether or not there is a keyboard shortcut available for moving frame by frame (as the playback buttons do) during the preview/playback mode? And if not, whether or not there is a way to assign one? If ULead is intent on decent customer support they should get back to you one way or another, hopefully with something to make some progress
(Sorry this is a bit long wind'ed SS2)

I posted a reply in your other post in the Video Forum...

Basically the shortcuts are found at the back of the manaul/user guide, which can be downloaded from Ulead's website..

Thanks Ron, note your advice on edit equipment forum. Unfortunatly the key strokes do not relate to the options on the Contour programme.
I will relaythe email link to Contour tech. guys, perhaps they can email Ulead for further data. The shuttle is a great aid, if only it can work with studio, it seems very popular with Mac users. SS2
