VS 11 trial version not "seeing" camcorder via PC

I've been happy with vs versions 6,9 and 10plus and want to trial version eleven before buying it.

I have downloaded the trial version and connected from my camcorder dv output to a firewire port on my Windows (xp) pc.

I open vs 11 and click on "capture" and then capture video in drop down menu but the application is not "seeing" my camcorder as capture from device.

I tried a search and didn't get a result that matches my question so sorry to post such a basis question but all help very much appreciated.

Since making this post, you have obviously found the other thread on the subject. As that thread already contains a lot of responses, I will lock this thread. But I would also ask you, in that other thread, to tell us exactly which camera you are talking about.
