Video Studio 9 & Vista

Post by 62cwil »

I have not used my program in a while and today I couldn't run it. I now use Windows Vista vs XP which I had at the time of install. I Couldn't find an update for Vista. Is their one and if so where. If not I will go back and try to figure out.

As far as I know Version 10 has a vista update...and V11 came out Vista compatible.

You will need to upgrade by the looks of things..

Just to fully confirm what Clevo has written. VS9 was fullt "pre-Vista." VS10 was out when Vista arrived so a patch was developed. The results of using the pathc, from posts on this board, were mixed. Probably "most" people were fine.
VS11 was the first fully compatible release for Vista.

I agree with what Lance and Clevo have told you. However, if you want to be a guinea pig for us, you could try running VS9 in compatibility mode with XP under Vista. To do that, right click on the VS9 icon on your desktop and choose Properties. You will (or you should) see several tabs on the new box which appears, one of them being Compatibility. Choose that. And you will then see, towards the top, an empty box with the words beside it 'Run this program in compatibility mode for:' and the next box down shows 'Windows XP (Service Pack 2)' greyed out. Tick that empty box and those words now become active. Close the box and then retry VS9.

I will be interested in the results since I used this method to get another Ulead program, Cool 3D Production Studio, which is even older than VS9, to work fine under Vista...
