It's the Cobra DCM300. I came across it searching for a lightweight camcorder. Here's a link:

I am afriad that I have to tell you that, whatever it is, your camera is most definitely NOT a mini DV camera. At best it is, as it describes itself, a mini digital camera which is not at all the same thing. Essentially, it is a digital still camera which happens, like a lot of still cameras, to take short video clips, in your case in the MJPEG format (a lot of similar cameras use either the .mov or mpeg-4 formats...) And frankly, at a price of $40, I would not be expecting much from it at all!!
That being said, I still have no idea why you are having trouble with the audio on video captured from it. But then again, I don't have any mjpeg video which I can test to see if other mjegs behave the same way as yours...

Adding to Ken's great wisdom...
I have a more expensive digital still camera that uses the MJPEG codec, wrapped in the MOV container. I have no problems with those clips in VS. The only issue with the format is from the camera itself. It seems to pick up some camera noise, that produces a constant clicking.
But I can take clips from the camera inside of VS, split the audio, rotate the video, cut, add effects ect., without problems.
I like Ken, say don't expect much from a $40 camera. Especially don't expect much compatibility with software.
I"m not surprised to see Cobra jump into other markets. Several (over 20) years ago I owned one of their CB (citizens band) 2-way radios.
