Producing a shadow gradient

Post by sisom »

Hi, can anybody reproduce the dark shadow that is on the left and right hand side of the main part of this website:

I mean this image:

I tried to produce something similar in PI12, but whatever I did was either too dark throughout the width of the object I produced, or too light.

It can be done in PI12. You need to select the Multi-color gradiant. Then customize it. Start with one of the gradiant templates (looks like wheels), one of the later templates (109) is gray-scale (white and black).

You may need to delete one of the nodes on the wheel. Then start moving them around to get the white in the center. Apply that to your object, and then try using the Fade-Out, located on the Edit Menu.

With the Fade-out, play with the settings using the Preview.

You might also try working with masking to get your desired transparency. If you're not familiar with Masks, and working in Mask Mode, type "Mask" in the Index tab of the Help file.
