Importing HiDef Video Extremely Slow

Post by RonDawg »

I read the manual, the Read Me, the FAQ's, and I even did a search to no avail.

The problem I am having is everytime I try to import high definition video from my hard drive into DVD Movie Factory 6 Plus, it takes FOREVER. A 3.5 GB .mpg video file takes about an hour to fully import, until which time DVD Movie Factory is completely locked up and even the dialog boxes for choosing the file don't go away. Once the file is fully imported, I can burn it to disc normally.

I'm just wondering if this is normal and I should just put up with it or is there something I should check to speed up the process?

The files I'm speaking of were originally recorded on a High Definition TiVo and imported to my PC, where they were edited using VideoReDo and exported in .mpg format. The PC I'm using is a Dell XPS-410 with Windows Vista Home Premium with 2 GB of RAM and plenty (almost 100 GB) of free hard drive space. I've also updated DVD Movie Factory with both sets of updates (didn't need the Hotfix as it appeared to install normally).

I've tried speeding up Vista using things like disabling Aero, and while that did speed up other tasks, it hasn't made a dent on this particular issue.

Any assistance or tips will be greatly appreciated.

Strike that, it's not just a problem with high definition files, it does this with standard definition files as well.
