Problem with PAL?

Post by dark yoshi »

I recently bought the EasyCap capture video adapter with audio. I installed it and have already got to grips with the software. However the main reason for my purchase was to record footage from games. I have all the specifications (and more) so i plugged in to record. However i can only get a picture using NTSC and because it is a PAL console those images are in black and white. Please help.

By the way its a PAL 60 if this has any effect

Welcome to the forums,

I don't completely understand all the PAL vs NTSC. However the PAL 60 is a hybrid between the PAL (Phase Alternating Lines) and NTSC (National Television System Committe) . You're seeing, or not seeing the major difference in them-Color.

PAL uses the 50Hz electrical pulse, while NTSC uses 60Hz. This PAL 60 is supposed to be able to use the NTSC 60Hz.

Confused?, I sure am.. How to correct this, I don't know. Hopefully one of the guys from the UK or anywhere that really has a handle on all this PAL vs NTSC mess will pop-in and provide you with a solution.

Hi

I do not have a capture device fitted and therefore cannot check this.
From memory:-

When I had Ati AiW 128 I could see the device in the Source panel.

Selecting the Options cogwheel allowed access to set up the capture properties.
One of the tabs, the ¡¥source¡¦ I think gave me the choice of Pal or Ntsc.

Video Studio¡¦s default was Ntsc., capture was Black and White until changed to Pal.

Check out the capture properties under the Options Cogwheel.
