I have a new, legit retail copy of Windvd 8 Gold I just installed on my XP SP2 PC.
I just tried installing the WinDVD_8.006.104_patch.exe for it from this website and get the error "windvd version is invalid, upgrade process failed"
I have my anti-virus disabled and have deleted all temp files on the PC per instructions. I can't find this error in the Intervideo knowledgebase. Anyone know the cause/solution of this error...?
Version 8 patch creates "version error ". Any idea

Welcome to the forums,
Without knowing, I must ask where did you obtain your version? If from Corel (ESD), is it an activated trial version?
That error generally comes from either SE or Trial versions, that do not qualify for updates and patches. The activated trial versions, where an activation key is purchased to unlock the trial to a full version, has posed this sort of problem for sometime. That's why we strongly recommend against this method of purchase.

The update patch should install to your version. I was not aware of the Gov Connection web site until now.
Try contacting Corel Customer Service. I'm not saying that you'll get far, but they just might be able to provide the solution.
Did you or do you have any other Intervideo products installed? Did you have at one the trial version, or the version bundled with VideoStudio installed? The patch may be seeing that instead of the full version.
Try doing a complete, full, clean uninstall. Generally this requires going through the registry, removing all traces of the program. Then also making sure that all folders such as ~Program Files\WinDVD, are deleted, before installing.
