Efficient File Names

Post by MMcNeeley »

Hi all,

I am very new to video editing. I recently got a Canon HG10 (AVCHD format with 40GB Hard Drive, HD) and it came with DVD Movie Factory 5.6.

I am using the backup software that came with the camera to transfer files onto my PC. After that, I import them into DVD Movie Factory for editing. The files in my PC are named by the program and don't have visible thumbnails, so I want to rename them. If I do this after I begin editing, DMF doesn't recognize them anymore. What is the best way to avoid this? Can I rename the files from within DVD Movie Factory (so the name will change within my documents)?

Once I move scenes onto my PC, is there a better way to organize them before I edit them into a movie?

With photos, I use Adobe Photoshop Elements to organize things. With video, I just don't know a good way to keep things in order.

Any suggestions? Thanks a lot!javascript:emoticon(':D')
Very Happy

Mychael

The easiest way is to rename the files on your hard drive before importing them to MovieFactory. There are a few FREE utilities available to mass rename files on your computer.

There are at least 3 of these programs in our links to free stuff
