MFC Application

Post by LDF0016 »

I can play avi files that are on my computer and my DVD drives do show in the source folder but every time I try to play a DVD or launch WinDVD 8 with a DVD in the drive, I get this error: WinDVD MFC Application Error. Along with the added messages to send or don't send error to Microsoft. I've reinstalled, installed the MFC patch, I've installed Visual Basic 6. I've done everything tech support asked and I'm not sure what else to do. I started out with the trial download first then I purchased the full program. I've read the other posts on the board but haven't found the answer. Could it be possible that my onboard sound, Realtek, is conflicting with the program somehow? When I can get the program to open, I get the same error message when I try to get to the audio settings.

I'm running Windows XP Pro, Gigabyte GA-M61P-S3, AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+, 2GB Memory, GeForce 8600GT, NEC 16x DVD burner and Lite-on 20X DVD burner.

My Windvd 9 plays fine until recently. It keep giving me MFC stop working error when launching a DVD. Bluray on the other hand plays fine. After days of struggle I finally found that if I set analog speaker as default dvd plays fine. If I set Realtek digital output as default than program crash when sound starts. I have not update any sound driver and searching for update always said mine is up to date. All other players has no issue except Windvd 9 plus.

I found the following under device manager:

Realtek Semiconductor Corp
22/08/2007
6.0.1.5470

I am running Vista home premium 32bit sp1 with Realtek High Definition audio. I tried numerous install and uninstall already. Any possible solution?

Thanks. Those fixes look like are for XP and WinDVD 8. Will they work on Vista?

Further testing found Bluray plays fine but HDDVD has no picture yet no crashing. Tried XP sp2 compatibility mode and DVD plays but only in stereo. The only other option to pick is Headphone. All that is using Spdif as default.

Finally got it all fixed. Download Windvd again and run the latest update. Now everything is back to normal. Thanks.

I am operating WINDVD8 on a Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit system , 2 gb memory, 20 gb free on the hard drive. The MFC application error started last month after a year of acceptable operation of WINDVD8.

I have tried three times in downloading WINDVD8, the patches from Corel and Microsoft and I still get the MFC Application error.I have followed the uninstall, reinstall, and installation upgrade three times. Many threads on this forum discuss WINDVD9 and WINDVD8 problems with MFC, however the COREL customer service says that WINDVD9 is not affected by MFC. Microsoft customer service , which did not charge me for verbal assistance, is blaming Corel for the MFC application error.
Question 1 - What will get rid of the MFC error in WINDVD8?
Question 2 - Will WINDVD9 exhibit the same MFC error.
Quesiton 3 - Why should i have to pay $15.00 to Corel support to fix an obvious error that WINDVD8 (and not Microsoft) has with MFC?

This is my first post on this forum and I would appreciate any help to get WINDVD8 working. Thanks in advance.

Nonsense - I am running WinDVD 9 Plus Blu-ray (Vista 64) and I get the error MFC error too whenever I play DVD with HW acceleration enabled no matter what graphics card I use (NVIDIA or ATI).
Right now I am in discussion with Corel Online support - will see what will be the result...

Corel's lack of answers on the MFC problems with Intervideo WINDVD forced me to download the trial version of MINDVD9. So far so good - no errors with MFC but the 'basic' version of WINDVD9 is limited; no HD is availoable. I have asked COREL TECH SUPPORT for info on how to get HD playback - i'll edit this post if they respond.

Wait to buy WinDVD 9 or buy ArcSoft TMT

WinDVD9 is great for standard DVD but I can't recommend it for Blu-Ray.

They don't update the program nearly enough to satisfy end users. They haven't released a update for a long time except for Laptop Vendors.

Wait before you buy, at least until they release an update for non-OEM

Corel isn't supporting WinDVD
