How to convert WordPerfect file to sub-titles

Post by Ken Berry »

I have received the following email. I have reminded the sender of Board policy for Moderators not to reply to private emails on matters relating to Corel products. The sender should post on this Board so that others may benefit from possible answers.

In any case, I have never worked with sub-titles so don't know the answer to this one.
I have a large wordperfect_12 file which I want to convert to use as a subtiltle file for ulead plus .
How do I do that?
Thanks
Mohan

I don't know if this will help, as I don't use Word Perfect (not since DOS was alive and well), and I don't use Subtitles. However reading the User Guide aka; Manual on Page# 91 it states:
Saving subtitle files
Saving movie subtitles allows you to reuse them in the future. Click Save Subtitle File to open the Save As dialog box. Locate where to save your movie subtitle and click Save.

Notes:
¡E Movie subtitles will automatically be saved as *.utf files.
¡E To save subtitles in foreign languages like Chinese, Japanese or Greek, click Open Subtitle File in the Options Panel and browse for the particular file. Before you open the file, however, make sure you select the corresponding language in Language.
So I would make a logical (sounds like Spock) guess that you can not create a Subtitle File outside of VS. UTF is a proprietary Ulead format (Ulead Text File). He would need to use the copy/paste method to get text created in a third party application into VS. Then once that is done, he could elect to save it as a Subtitle file.

Please view:
Create Subtitles with VS11+ for use in MF6+ (Video)

From this you can see that a text file is created albeit with a utf extension.
If you create a short "subtitle file" with VideoStudio save it and rename the extension to txt, you can then open it with a word processor to ascertain its layout and format.

From this information you might be able to use the word perfect file.
