I receive a message "VideoStudio encounters a problem and needs to close".
This fault occurs every time I try to import a chapter in either my HDD or the DVD drive, and each time it seems to be in the same file (Modname h264vdechpdll.dll). The error msg indicates it will report the error report to Microsoft (as I am not usually online when running Video Studio the report is not sent).
The import is from either DVD's created by Video Studio or others, if it's a protected dvd then I get a message indicating so. The DVD drive I am using is the one that was used to create the Video Studio DVD. This fault also occurs if I try to Import from a DVD file on the HDD. A list of chapters is shown but the fault occurs when I attempt to check the box.
Can anyone help as importing from DVD is going to be useful when updating home movies.

Welcome to the forums,
Is this a Standard DVD, DL DVD or HD DVD that you're trying to import from? Not that I have a solution, but the error file seems to be a driver used for AVCHD, h.264.
What speed was the DVD burned at? If the DVD was burned at max speed, while it may play alright, being able get the data off the disk could pose problems.
If it is a HD DVD do a forum search using AVCHD, and look for member etech6355 as a poster. He's our HD, AVCHD, resident expert on these.

And eliminate a disc read problem as the source of the error by copying the folders onto your hard drive - "ripping" the disc, if you like. If the disc isn't protected, you should be able to do this in Windows Explorer or My Computer - otherwise a ripping program can "back it up" for you.
If the disc isn't protected but you can't copy the files onto your pc, then you need to try another disc.
