With the Ulead Video Studio 10 i am not being able to capture files with audio (the video comes just fine) nor preview the audio before capturing. I have already changed all configurations possible and tested everything, have already done everything in the manual and installed the driver correctly.
However, i may hear the audios which come with the software for testing, and I can hear just perfect the audio from files that i import, drag and drop at the timeline of the edit mode as well.
Could someone please help me?

What kind of camera or device are you capturing from? How is it connected to the computer? What file format are you capturing to? (Capturing from a MiniDV camera via Firewire is usually foolproof... Some other devices may require that you use their own special software for the capture step.)With the Ulead Video Studio 10 i am not being able to capture files with audio (the video comes just fine) nor preview the audio before capturing.

¡Hola Ricaro! ¡Sea bienvenido al foro!
Can you tell us if you have the letters SE after your version 10 (o tal vez EE en Español, indicando 'Edición Especial'... o algo similar)? If so then it is a limited edition which is usually distributed free with a piece of hardware. For licensing reasons, it does not contain the Dolby codec. You would thus need either to upgrade to a full version, or else convert your video (or more to the point, the audio on it) using another program to an audio format that VS10 SE can see (e.g. LPCM or mpeg layer 2).

Doug and Ken,
thank you for you very prompt answers. I hope I can solve this problem!
I'm capturing for a AVI format file from a simple DVD player (I am using a movie a i'v rent for testing), using a capturer called EASY CAP USB capture device just like this one:
http://www.pickeasy.com/20080123-easy-w ... -1266.html)
I have bought the package with the piece of software and hardware together and, by the way, it is the Video Studio 10 SE, just like Ken told so.
Then, what possibilities do I have? The only thing that concerns me is that I have bought it on ebay and there wasn't a single person who complained about something like that. I have already written an email to the seller of the product and he told me to try capturing with another device.
Moreover, I have acquired this product because I will plug my playstation 2 on my computer so I can play it without having to use a TV. Do you know if it might work? I was wondering if the problem is that I have tested with a DVD I rent, which could be protected or encripted somehow for this kind of things. But the video comes just fine..
Wiating for your answer!
Thank You

If it was a rental movie, then it will definitely be using Dolby audio. (I won't go into the question of copyright violation of trying to copy a commercial DVD since I have no idea of what the copyright laws are in Spain...)
As I said above, VS10SE does not contain the Dolby codec for licensing reasons. Every program which uses Dolby has to pay Dolby a fee for its use. The SE version of Video Studio is given away free. No software manufacturer is going to give away something free but have to pay someone else, like Dolby, for part of the program. So the Dolby codec is not included in SE versions.
You will need to look at your Easy Cap instructions to see if you can change the audio capture settings to something other than the original Dolby sound track. See if it will allow you to capture in standard (L)PCM audio or mpeg-layer 2 audio. Both are part of the PAL/SECAM DVD standard so will play in any DVD player once you burn a DVD using them.
Otherwise, you would need to upgrade to a version of Video Studio which is the full version with Dolby included.

Ken,
Thank you for your answer.
First of all, I want to say that I DID NOT buy the capture device nor the video studio to capture movies I rent, because I know that's not legal. I just used a DVD player to test, since I don't have anything else to use and I must do it until 7 days after I've bought it to return the product in case of any problem. As I said, I bought it to use with my playstation 2 (which I don't have with me now to use for testing). So, do you think it might work with this videogame?
I will try to chage the settings of the software to see if it works as well. However, is it 100% sure that if I upgrade to a full version, it will work?
Thank you!
Ricardo

Hello all,
I came to the forum trying to solve a problem and count myself fortunate to have found almost exactly what I'm looking for. I am in almost exactly the same place as Ricardo.
I got the EasyCAP USB converter, packaged with the VideoStudio 10 SE software. I got this in an Ebay auction in an attempt to play my Gamecube through my computer. I HAVE hooked the Gamecube up to my computer. I set the software to capture and the audio to preview. The video comes through well enough. The game is playable, in a sense of the word. The problem is that the audio quality is AWFUL. I can hear the game, and the music is familiar, but it is horridly scratchy with somewhat loud static.
Is this fixable without buying a new version of the software? Can I find this codec anywhere? Any idea how expensive it would be to just UPGRADE my software instead of buying new?
