Hi. I am using DVD Moviefactory 6.0.
I break the video I have captured into clips using scene change detection. My question is; how do I access the time and date information associated with each scene?
I used to use Click2DVD, and this was displayed without my having to do anything.
Thanks;
Aydin

Sorry this is not possible with DVD MovieFactory. You might try a free program called DVdate. As the name would imply, it works with DV files only. With it you can access the date/time code, have it displayed and burned into your video clip.

Ron, thank you very much for the reply. I am in fact interested only in finding out when the clip was captured; I do not need to burn the date information into the clip. Is there perhaps a way to do this?
If not, will DVdate allow me to see, but not burn, the information?
Thanks in advance;

MetaData Date and Time Capture
Vidoman (Ron),
Thanks for assisting with this issue. I posted the same question months ago in DMN Forums and have received no response. Please confirm for me what you are saying, because I swear I have done this before...
I, and I assume Aersoz, would like to keep the time and date meta data from our captured .AVI files in tact in the subtitle stream of the resultant DVD from Movie Factory 6. I swear that I have done this before, but now every time and way I try to extract the meta data, all I get is the date and time from the very first frame of the file, not a consistent flow of date and time data throughout the video.
Either I am nuts or I swear I did this before with this software. I have verified that this data is in fact present in my AVI file with DVDate. If in fact MF 6 can't handle this process do you know of a good way to keep my date and time code meta data available to the viewer of my DVD.
Thanks so much,
Greig

Metadata and time code information by scene
I can't get anyone to respond to me on this topic and I am losing my mind. I just review some DVDs I created a year or so ago with DVD Workshop and the subtitle channel 1 contains the time and date code for every single scene change. This was automatically imported by DVD Workshop when I imported it. Now this feature doesn't work any more. I KNOW that I used DVD Workshop to accomplish this.
Please HELP!

DVD MovieFactory or DVD Workshop? Sure you're in the right forum, Sir Greig?sirgreig wrote:I just review some DVDs I created a year or so ago with DVD Workshop ... This was automatically imported by DVD Workshop when I imported it. ... I KNOW that I used to accomplish this.

I found it, finally, and am a little
about not locating it before..
Highlight a DV(avi) file on the time line and click on the Edit Subtitle. At the top of that tab are the options File Name, Date, Time, EXIF data (photos).
You can also set the other Font attributes, and location you want the "subtitle" to appear.
This only appears to work with DV files, not with MPEG. However I will say this that I do not capture/transfer MPEG, so the MPEG files on my PC have been created using VS or MSP.

Thanks for responding so quick. I am already able to choose the metadata subtitle information according to what you suggested. My problem is that in the past I was able to import the metadata for every scene change. In other words; if I leave subtitle track 1 on I get a time and date stamp every time the scene changes. This is what I want but can't seem to duplicate.
In DVD WORKSHOP (I know this is the wrong room for this product, sorry, but I use a blend of this and MovieFactory) I import the subtitle from the metadata like you stated, but it only gives me the date and time at the beginning of the tape, not each scene. I have done this before and it is a useful feature. The only thing I can think may be different is the form of my AVI file and the underlying metadata content.
You are correct. MPG cannot carry metadata.
