QuickTime files in Video Studio Version 11 Pro
Visual Studio and its Make movie wizard both die when I try to insert a Quick Time movie clip made by my camera. What I mean is that the program literally exits and there is no message at all. Can someone help me overcome this issue?

Welcome back,
First did you install the updates and power pack for VS11+? http://www.ulead.com/tech/vs/vs_ftp.htm.
Since it is a "MOV" file causing the problems, I'll also ask what version of QuickTime do you have installed, the latest?
Have you updated to the most current DirectX, which is the Nov '07 update?
Could you please post the make/model of your camera, and the video clip properties?
I think that with the update patch, even though it's not specified in the list of corrections, problems with the MOV file format were corrected.

QuickTime problems
Thanks for your reply. I have installed the three patches in the link you provided. The insertion of the video clip still fails as before. I have QuickTime version 6.5 installed. The camera I have is Minolta and Ulead version 8, that I have is able to read the video clips. Should I upgrade QuickTime?

I would first try updating Quicktime without uninstalling VS.vidoman wrote:According to Corel, prior to installing VS, you need to install the latest version.
Otherwise, does this mean that we all have to uninstall VS each time there is a Quicktime update?

Ulead 11+ makes my system restart when login in after instal
Thanks for all your replies, but I have been recovering my XP Pro system after installing Ulead. Just to make sure Ulead 11+ install was the culprint, I made sure everything was back working as before. I then ran the patch, then install the downloaded (twice by the way), 11+ upgrade from 8 and this time the install asked me to restart (unlike that last time). After the restart, my windows system kept restarting even without login in. I was now prepared and logged in using the prior good setup. THIS IS REALLY BAD. I want either my money back or some way to get this fixed. Can anyone help me with this awful experience... Al
BTW, I just started VS11+ and it seems to work. I had previously upgraded to QuickTime 7.x and it does not crash as my original post said. The fact that it works, must mean something is being done by the install that messes up my Windows XP up-to-date system. I consistently upgrade from microsoft, so it is up-to-date... Al

As XP was restarting all, were you getting a blue screen of death at all? If so, it will indicate what the problem file is. That would at least be a clear indication (or not) that VS is at fault. And you might be able to correct the problem is Safe Mode.
Quite coincidentally, just yesterday, I was having enormous trouble trying to install an upgrade to the drivers for my Winfast DTV2000 H TV/capture card on one of my computers. And I started getting the blue screen of death, with the computer going through a loop of several re-boots. Like you, I eventually solved it by using a boot to the last known good configuration. But I finally managed to catch a glimpse of the file that the blue screen was saying caused the problem. (It had nothing to do with Video Studio, by the way... it was in fact one of the .exe files associated with the PVR2 program of my TV card...). So just to be sure, I started Windows in Safe Mode, and uninstalled the program utterly, then reinstalled it. Then restarted Windows in normal mode and all is now sweetness and light...

Rebooting problem after installing VS11+
Thanks for your reply. I was not getting the blue screen at all. XP would show the login screen and whether I tried to login or not, after about 5 seconds the screen went black and restarting as from turning the power on. This was a loop which I also, like you, was able to select rebooting from the previously known good point. In my case it is definitely the installation of VS11+ since I carefully had the system working great and rebooted prior to installing.
VS11+ is working well right now, but I don't know what it is that got lost from my going back to the previously known good system. I have succeeded in creating a movie from lots of photos and four video clips. It created the mpeg file great, and I used lots of the new features OK. I have to believe that something is not going to work eventually given what I had to do... Al
