MF4 cannot access the 'scene frames' or 'layout' etc

Post by Ladislaus »

I have had MF4 perfectly working. I find now in creating the menu I cannot access the various 'scene frames' or 'layout' etc using the horizontal slider- it does not respond. Is there any way to check if I had deleted part of the programme inadvertantly? Grateful for any suggestions please.

"Deleting part of the program", do you mean the GUI (Graphical User Interface) ? The only way for that to happen is to delete files located in one of the Ulead Folders. Did you delete any of the files, not project files, image or video files?

Do you have the install disc or ESD installation files? If you have the CD, you might try doing a repair install. However I don't recall if Win98 has a "repair" function available. If not try reinstalling the program. Just be sure to back-up any custom libraries you may have created.

Thanks Vodoman,
Yes I have the CD.
I do not recollect deleting except the project files.
Do I have to un-install before installing
Regarding the updates which I also downloded subsequently to get the programe running, will that get erased as well when un-installing

As my computerknowledge is very mediocre Ihowever did some investigationin the c-drive and found the following:
1. dmf4_up1.e.exe
2. dmf4_up2.e.exe both described as 'Application'
Could these be the update files

When you go to the Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs, with the CD inserted in your CD tray, if you see the "Repair" option, then you do not need to uninstall, just select the repair option.

Repairing may restore the program back to the state before any updates were installed.

Yes those are update files. If you haven't already done so, I highly recommend burning those update files to a CD.

Thank you Vidoman,
Sorry I could not return earlier.
I did back up the updates then un-installed and re-installed program and the back ups.
Sorry to say the symptoms remain the same.
Any more thoughts please.

Sorry if you this sounds like I am telling you off - I am not.
You can alter the title by using the Image button on your first post.

The purpose of providing a meaningful title is this.
There are a number of members on the forum who try and help troubleshoot problems - myself included. In the early days of the user forum it was not too difficult to be able to read all of the posts submitted since the last time I (or one of the other troubleshooters) had logged on.

On the Forum Home page at the top right is a link
view posts since last visit In the forums early days this would perhaps range between 10-30 posts. Today however the board has grown in popularity and more products are now catered for including the former Intervideo products before the merger with Ulead.

There have been days when I have logged on to find over 70 new posts since my last visit. It is of course impossible to read each and every one of them and so it is necessary to look at the titles to pick out posts where I feel I am able to offer some worthwhile input.

if you are viewing perhaps the VideoStudio forum and a post is entitled
"VideoStudio" - it doesn't really give you a clue, similarly in the PhotoImpact forum a post entitled [PhotoImpact] is equally as meaningless.

Giving a post a suitable title is a means of helping us to help you.

Etech,

I just hauled my Gateway PC to the garage last week. Until then my wife had been using it, and was real reluctant to give it up. It was a PIII, 850Mhz, 384Mb RAM, 1-10gig, 1-40gig HDD, running Win98se.

However I stopped trying to edit video on it about 4yrs ago..;)

Get her a mini Mac, they now come with a Core2 - Duo.
They won't lose their value & will outlast Vista.
So simple to learn & use.

Have you seen the new computers where everything is built into the Keyboard?
What a space saver, MiniMac's are also space savers.

MF4 Disc Creator,boxed

Post by Ladislaus »

Thank you sjj1805.

In my first post I have given the title. Should I repeat it everytime as I continue to discuss the same topic?

'edit' and 'view post since last visit' does not come on. on my pc.
As etech 6355 and vidoman suggests my pc reflects my age. How true!
I am 76- not out- trying to catch up with digital tech. after years of turning page after pages of log-tables and pushing slide- rules solving mathematical problems.

The mf4 disc creator was working away happily. Why would some aspects of it, as the 'slide', suddenly stop working even on re-installation of the software?

Where can I find 'dm4_content_multiple.exe'?

I learnt a lot and did progress so far with your help from very helpful members of this forum with mf4 and vs9 and I appreciate your patience. Thank you again.

The "dm4_content_multiple.exe" should be on one of your installation CDs. We certainly hope that it is anyway. Because getting those files from Corel would be next to impossible now.

I know one thing that I experienced with my old Win98 machine, is the need to start from scratch every 6 months. I would backup everything, then reformat the hard drive, and re-install Win98. For me anyway it seemed that things would start messing up around the 6 month mark, and reformatting seemed to bring it back to life for another 6 months.

Hi

I stumbled over a Ulead ftp site the other day. Try http://ftpkbt.ulead.com/pub/esd/dmf4/ for access to dmf4_contents

Thanks Vidoman - I have only one CD (supplied) which I installed and fired away happily after down loading 2 up grades and with a lot of help from the forum.

Thanks Samamsma - The site for 'dm4_content_multiple.exe' you kindly referred me to is not avilable.

Thanks- sjj1805- Your well meaning directives are most appreciated. Will dm4_content_multiple.exe be in the MF4 CD supplied?Or is it an upgrade?

Any suggestion is much appreciated. :(
