VideoStudio 9 won't play audio

Post by Jon Lewis »

Every time I try to import directly from a DVD disk, I can never hear the audio. There seems to be an audio track there, at least there is one I can separate out, etc., but I simply can't hear it. Other mpg video files I've imported seem to work fine, but not those that I bring in directly from a DVD. Do I have the wrong configuration somehow?

If you have the letters SE after your version 9, then it is a crippled free copy which is distributed usually with hardware of some kind... Amongst other things, for licensing reasons, it cannot play Dolby audio. And I am assuming that the DVD you ripped uses Dolby audio...

Thanks, Ken. You're right that it is the SE version that came along with an analog to digital conversion device. Do you happen to know if there is an update or patch that fixes this Dolby audio issue?

Sorry to say, any patches do not install to the SE, VE (Free) versions. Anyway with the full version of VS9, if I recall correctly, you needed to purchase an expensive Dolby plug-in, which has not been available for a couple of years now.
