transition clipping audio

transition clipping audio
I use a fade to black transition a lot in VS11. Usually it is 12 frames (1/2 second). Sometimes the person is saying something complete at the end of the edit but the transition causes it to be clipeed and you see the transition rotate in as they are still talking. Is there a fix for this or something I can do to avoid?

Did you fade the audio using the audio fade out button? If that doesn't work, either put the clip in Audio view and manually reduce the volume with the rubber bands, or try splitting the audio then fade the audio, with the fade button or manually with the rubber bands.

Leave few secs of video for the transition so that you dont miss the end. I usually leave about 3 seconds and then apply the transistion. Minimum 1 sec is required.
Transistion is nothing but a smooth overlap between clip A and clip B

If I were in your shoes, with important audio running right to the very end of the clip, I would add a black color panel -- or even one the predominant color in the preceding scene -- after that video, and set it for half the length you assign to the transition. Then insert the transition. That way, the video with audio will play right to the end and the beginning of the transition will cover the color panel, not the end of the clip... May not be wonderful, but better than nothing if the audio is that important...

Thanks Ken
I'll give that a try. Didn't think of that. Sounds promising.
