oH DAMN AND RATZ............

Hokay, try this...not that it will work... But create a whole new profile just for you......set the preferences. Make sure that welcome screen is turned off, make sure you are in your particular profile next time you shut down and then try to reopen and let me know -- then I'll contact the engineer (who I keep for emergencies when I've exhauseted all other possibilities)............ Just finding that damn Welcome Screen (which I also called splash screen) was awful, so let's hope I get on the beta testing team...and think I will......at least I hope so! Hopefully you looked at the other possible solutions other than just mine.

BTW, are you in Hawaii????

This welcome screen, yes, I have disabled that. But the preferences are swept away every other day. Then the welcome screen is there again, and all the settings lost again...so the real culprit is elsewhere.
HawaiianI wrote:It's called a Welcome Screen and is a default when you first install PI. You can click on a little box to disable it to keep it from appearing when you open PI again and again. You will find that if you want to enable it, go to the Menu Bar and click on Window>Welcome Screen to enable it.

Hope this helps!

Hi thanks. I am still testing the first suggestion: forcing "read only" as for file

C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead PhotoImpact\12.0\Ulead.DAT\Iedit12.cfg

This seems to work! It is a workaround, not a solution, but I can live with this. I hope the developers come up with a real solution one day, well, if they plan to continue this product at all.

Alas, I am not in Hawaii, but in a much colder place, Finland...

Ohhhhhh you poor thing! Well, quality control and besta testing ain't what it used to be. I'm having no problems at all after disabling the Welcome Screen so we'll hope that fixes my problems.

I'm playing w/Ulead's VideoStudio 11 and creating YouTube stuff now. That's a toughie, too!

Good luck!
