Mark All Topics Read

Post by David Latta »

Despite clicking the "Mark All Topics Read" this does not seem to clear the postings as it did on the old forum when you clicked "Mark all Conferences Read" and refreshed.

Am I missing something here.

Merry Christmas to all

You're right, it doesn't clear the postings. What it does do is change the colour of the little symbol to the left of the post titles. If they are orange there are new posts in the thread - ie unread - and these are the ones you may be interested in. Also by default the board seems to display new posts at the top.
Any post with a clear symbol next to it is old, read, or however you like to describe it.
Also a Merry Christmas to all from me.

If the colored indicator doesn't disappear either, then your system is refusing cookies from the forum -- you may need to change the security settings for this site.

Ron,

Thanks for your prompt response. Guess we have to leave clearing the forum to the admin person.

From South Aussie enjoy Xmas in the west hope its not to hot. Have a cold Swan on me anyway.

Torsten,

Yes the indicators do clear.

Happy Holidays to you

Regards

From the main index, why not just click on "View posts since last visit"?

That will show you the new threads.

Well - even the old board didn't clear the messages when you clicked "mark all conferences read" they were all still there - it just didn't show when you clicked "New Messages" - so it's no different in that respect.

As phd said there is the option "view posts since last visit" as well as "View my posts" on the index page which make for much easier navigation.

And surely it's much much better to have all new posts move automatically to the top in each forum so that you can find them without having to search.
