Very dark preview in preview pane...

Post by Clevo »

Have not encountered this problem before.

Captured some video as per normal.

Video added to timeline as per normal.

I noticed during capture that the preview was a lot darker than normal.

Waited till capture finished.

Go to Edit pane...timeline view.

Sure enough while stopped it looked normal, bright and colourful.

Whilst in play (either clip or project views) the picture in the preview darkens considerably. Yet when paused or even manually scrubbing it looks nice and bright.

Scratching my head with this little problem.

any suggestions?

PS: The only thing I have done different is use the other Firewire cable. Not sure where the old one is. Hidning somehwere after the last big clean-up I guess.

Did you try a test output file?

I was about to do that when guests arrived.

Still, I would like this resolved.

What you see on the preview determins lots of things while editing. Especially if considering adding filters or adjusting levels.

One thing I will try when I get home from work is turning off "best quality" preview.

This has been resolved...

I got a call at work from my wife wanting to play a DVD on the PC. She reported that all the images were very dark.

A search on Google suggested I look at the Nvidia Control Panel and uncheck the Video Overlay.

On my version 8600GTS I just uncheck the "Let NVidia control colour"
