Hi Guys
At the risk of asking the dumbest question ever, in the MF6 creat Disc menu there's a dropdown box for DVD (with options 'DVD-Video', 'DVD+VR' and 'DVD-VR').
I always leave it on 'DVD Video' but what exactly does +VR or -VR mean in this context?
Should I use these options if I'm going to burn to a DVD+R or -R disc, or when should I use one or other of these options???
A Pretty Dumb Question

Thanks & regards.

DVD recording standards are confusing. To bring you up to my level of misunderstandings, and confusion have a read of Wikipedia Definition DVD-R
As common any of the text appearing blue, are hyper-links to further definitions (confusion) on the DVD formats..
Basically DVD-R is the video format that most all players will be able to play.

Usually you use the +VR and the -VR with Re-writable dvd media.
Standard use is DVD+RW for the +VR Format and DVD-RW or DVD-RAM for the -VR format.
This is so at a later date you can put the dvd back into the writer & make changes to the dvd, then write back to the same dvd.
There are also limitations is both the +VR & -VR formats.
You should also prepare the dvd by formatting it in UDF 2 or 2.01 format first, otherwise the program will write it as a standard dvd.
After you do it correctly and want to edit the dvd you then use MovieFactory's "Edit Disk" module, which you access from the main launcher screen.

The VR Mode is mostly used by stand alone players. I've never made a VR disc.
With a computer, the hard-drive gives you more editing flexibility than a DVD-VR. If you want to edit a R/W disc, you don't need the VR "editable" features, since you can copy the whole thing to your hard-drive, erase the R/W disc and start over.
