i could have even asked it in german wich i know much better but then i guess that you don´t understand anything .And it wasn´t me who cut the rest of the line wich should be "play" button.
But i´m pretty sure that you can understand the sense of the question. In VS7 and 8 there is no real instand playback. If you cick the play button while in project mode there is a short moment (about 3-4 secs) before the video starts. This bothers me and others since years and i asked if Ulead made any progress to solve this.

I don´t say it´s a bug but a problem of VS.thecoalman wrote:I'd imagine something like that would have more to with how fast your system responds as opposed to being a "bug" in the program. Due to how large the files are they are played from the HD as opposed to oaded into the RAM therefore they won't be instantly available when you click the play button.Rends wrote: If you cick the play button while in project mode there is a short moment (about 3-4 secs) before the video starts.
Just for the heck of it I through a AVI clip on the timeline and it responded instantly..... in VS7.
It doesn´t happened only on my PC it was mentioned several times on the old board too and also reviews mentioned this slow responding problem.
By the way my PC isn´t the fastest but also not the slowest:
Athlon2000XP,512MB RAM, 200GB HD and Geforcefx5900
PS: nevermind? ... to late

There is a pause I was incorrect about 2 or 3 seconds on my system.Rends wrote: I don´t say it´s a bug but a problem of VS.

How fast the response will be will be a factor of the machine's CPU and RAM, and the CODEC used for the file and project and the amount of processing on the timeline.Rends wrote:

No pat answer.

Project play: delay
Clip play: no delay
Playing the clip means playing what's right there in the video footage. Playing the project means playing the clip together with any and all additional editing, sound, overlay, voiceover, and music. There may not be any, but that doesn't make the project simply a clip.
If you "Create video file" so as to incorporate all the editing into one .AVI file, and then open that new file in the timeline and do some editing on some section of it, you will find the same difference as before: the "clip" (video file alone) plays right away EVEN THOUGH it now includes overlay, title, voiceover, etc.; and the "project" again takes a bit more time.
