I am running Video Studio version 8.
I have a dvd of personal home movies but have lost the original mpeg2 files.
I want to open one of the vob files on the disc in the project workspace to edit or render as a different file type and the file will open but when I attempt to play it the video is okay in the window but there is no sound.
Does version 8 not fully support this type file or do I have a bad project setting or other mistake in the workspace.
Do I need to transcode the vob to some different type of file.
Thanks for any help you can offer.
vob file opens but no sound VS 8

Does the original DVD have Dolby audio? Right click on a clip for its properties. I don't think v8 supported Dolby, at least not without an add-on pack.

Jeff is correct
Some of the forum members use ¡¥Super¡¦ a program to re-code video files

I have not used this software but suspect you could re-code using Lpcm audio
You should then be able to hear the sound
