Unspecified Error 5:0:0

Post by bkersh1 »

Ken, Steve anyone - if you are there, HELP!

I followed your directions exactly and as i was in the burn mode (i checked off create disc and create disc image) it was moving along smoothly until about 70% complete (while burning the DVD) it stopped with the error message.

Do you have any ideas what could have happened?

I am not sure what you meant by this. Does it mean you selected both "create disc' AND 'create disc image'? Or does it mean you did not select them, which implies you chose DVD Folders instead?

If the former, then try selecting ONLY disc image OR DVD Folder... Mind you, it certainly works for me if I select both to burn to a disc and to a DVD Folder (I tend not to use Disc Image...) You then use a third program to actually burn to disc from either the disc image or the DVD folder. Nero can do both as can Roxio. ImgBurn can do disc images, as can the separate module which comes with VS but installs separately (it used to be called VCD DVD Disc Image Recorder...)

Otherwise, I am not sure what 'unspecified error 5:0:0 refers to -- I seem to recall it related either to the burner itself, or to the blank DVDs being used. You could try changing the DVDs you are using, or burn at a lower speed... (This is why I prefer to use Nero or a third party program as you have greater control over things like burning speed...)

Yes - I selected both create disc and create disk image. Maybe it is the discs or perhaps the burner, although i burned 15 dvd's last evening so im guessing the burner is ok.

I will try again just selecting one or the other.
