I have attempted to follow instructions from a link created in this forum "Creating a Video Profile" via Steve (sjj 1805, site admin guy) and have run into a problem.
My problem is that when I start up the computer I have the choice of either "Normal" start up or "Video Editing" in a DOS screen which automatically reverts to "Normal" after a few seconds - that bits good however a minute or so later another screen comes up under "user account" in a Windows XP environment which requires me to login as either "Kathy" (my wife) or "Video Editing" and stays on that screen until I make a choice.
Secondly my screen saver when logged in under "Normal" or is it "Kathy" reverts back to the same Windows XP log in just mentioned?
Both of these "log in" steps did not occur prior to creating this video profile. During the setting up of the profile I was comfortable in all the steps set out except for the "Final Step: Edit the Start up menus and the register". As such I have probably missed something basic but please advise.

Since you created a separate hardware profile (video editing), when you boot your computer, by default it will present you with the options of which profile you would like to run, Normal, or Video Editor. Selecting the latter will boot the PC with the reduced services, and applications running in the background.
Then when you get the Windows Log-In, if there are more than one User Account, you will again be presented with the option to select the user account to log-in under.
As far as when your screen saver reverts, or Windows Resumes from the screen saver, displaying the Welcome Screen, that option is set (in WinXP) on the Screen Saver tab of the Display Properties. If you do not want Windows to display the Welcome Screen, then uncheck the box on that tab.
To access the Screen Saver tab;
WinXP:
Right-click the desktop, select Properties. The Screen Saver is easily seen. The box to uncheck is located beneath the drop-down menu for selecting your screen savers.
Vista:
Right-click the desktop, select Personalize. In the window that opens, select Screen Saver. The rest is the same as for XP.
However by your description, you appear to have set up your video editing profile correctly, and it is performing as it should.
