Ulead makes reference to X3

Post by TwiceWise »

I found this webpage on the Ulead websight. The link doesn't actually go anywhere yet, but the very fact that they have mentioned X3 is encouraging. One would assume that the release of the new PhotoImpact can't be too far away if they already have a download button in place for it.

Go here: http://www.ulead.com/learning/pi10.htm

You are right, the release is not far off. When, exactly, is anybodies guess though. As far as I know, there will also be a staggered release. It may not get released in Europe, Asia and the US all at the same time. Japanese users have had theirs for a few months already.

I downloaded the Japanese trial a while back. I couldn't understand anything, but it looked good to me coming from version XL. I think this is finally the version I'll upgrade to :D

sjj1805: I see PiX3 in your signature now. The release being imminent, is it too early to ask for a new feature list? (apart from the few sneak previews)

Just a taster - I will release more as soon as I see it appear for sale on the Ulead/Corel web sites.

Somehow I'll find the time to learn Japanese :P

I hope they keep the interface I saw. The colours are quite bright (quite Japanese, actually) and they almost seemed a little too much so when I first started using it. But, I very quickly came to love them.

Paintshop Pro has the whole, 'Pro' look to it. PI seems to have something much happier going on ;)

The new features don't sound amazing... it sounds as if someone at Corel HQ decided the best way to fix that was to add lots of freebies instead. Still, I'm have a good feeling about X3.

However you can not download a trial yet. Pressing the Try button gets the "Page can not be Found"...  :x

as at 8:40pm CST, pressing the "try" button gets you into a never-ending circle. However, a button on the right-hand side of the page takes you to Download.com where a ~ 90mb trial can be downloaded.
Guess what I'm doing  :?:

My enthusiasm got the better of me, unfortunately.
DO NOT DOWNLOAD THE TBYB FROM DOWNLOAD.COM
You'll end up with PI12, not PIX3.

We'll now wait till tomorrow.

Yep, when I opened my PI X3 it shows me a splash screen advising me of an available upgrade. That "Upgrade" is actually PI 12 also  :?

Cool, it looks like it still has the wacky happy colours :D

I'll wait until the usual Corel/Ulead "The coffee boy made the website." issues are fixed before grabbing the trial.
