I hope someone can answer a question for me.
I have a Sanyo Xacti video camera that produces MP4 files.
I have used Ulead Video Studio v 7 and v 8 to import and manipulate these files.
I have just upgraded to Ulead Video Studio v 9 and the option for importing MP4 files is missing.
I have no desire to save my finished products as MP4 files...just to import. Why do I no longer have this ability with version 9? Is there something I can do short of buying the MP4 plugin just to import files?

MP4 imprort into Video Studio v9
Merlin,
I received Ulead VS 7 with the video camera...I guess that the Codec was included with it. This codec must have been usable with version 8 but I am wondering why version 9 won't use it.

Wish these Camera companies would provide a little more info on using there product besides the maketing of it. you can do this, and this, and this... then fail to provide the pertitnent info on how.
MP4 is a Apple format, installing Quicktime should allow you to view. After installing Quicktime you should be able to view the video in any playing or editing application. Installing quicktime will not allow you to save as MP4 AFAIK. You will have to save as .MOV or any other format.
Before saving though look at the properties of the video, match them to whatver your saving with specifically the framerate.

Have you checked the options in Project Preferences and for exporting video files?irhyper2 wrote:ARe you saying If I have Quicktime installed, I can view and edit a mp4 movie with studio 8se and that I do not need any other codec?

I'm saying you can view or decode it with quicktime installed, if you look on the supplied disc with the cam Quicktime is probably included, it may even have the correct codec for decoding and encoding. If you can view or decode you should be able to edit and save to another format such as mpeg1 or anything really.irhyper2 wrote:ARe you saying If I have Quicktime installed, I can view and edit a mp4 movie with studio 8se and that I do not need any other codec?
It's similar to having Acrobat reader, it's free. You can view PDF documents with it but you can't create them.
As far as I can tell mp4 requires that you have a licensed copy of the codec for encoding, that may be included on your disc somewhere.
