Audio in Project view

Post by andyboyns »

I have video clips on my timeline which contain audio. When I play "clip" I can both see the video, and hear the clip.

However, if I select "project" view, I can only see the video, there is no sound.

I've tried separating the audio to another track, and adding a background music track, but it is the same. When watching in Project view there is no sound.

What am I doing wrong?

Sorry but we have no idea since you give us nothing to go on. You have "video clips" but what are they? What format and where did you get them and how? That might give us a tiny clue as to what their audio properties are, but without that information, we are unable to help. Have you even looked at the very top post on this Board: "Read this before posting"? If not, then please have a look and come back with the information sought. Then someone might be able to help.

tried this too

Post by andyboyns »

I've tried starting from scratch too, a couple of times, and reimporting from a copy of the DVD which is on my hard drive.

It's interesting as it sometimes provides a wav form for about 1 min 45 secs, and then straight lines.

I'm sure the issue is about this, so what's up?

btw, I also posted here: http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic. ... highlight= you may want to link the post, again sorry. I'll behave in future! ;-)

You're using a Trial version? That's why you're having problems with the audio. As I stated in my response to your other post, Dolby is not provided with the trial versions due to licensing restrictions. The audio on your DVD is Dolby. So while you are able to hear it being played in Clip Mode, you can not use it. Clip Mode is just playing the original file located somewhere on your PC. Project mode on the other hand, is applying any editing done, and would need the Dolby codec to do so.

Do you have any clips that were captured from a camcorder? If so, do they behave the same way?

What if you try one of the sample clips that VS provides, both video and audio?

I can see William

Thanks for your Dolby advice.

I have to say that perhaps you should have some info sheet about the Trial Version. I'm feeling pretty stupid at the moment as I really like Corel software, but since posting yesterday have been seriously researching the alternatives.

ULead's price is good. It's reputable softeware... but I am/was (still undecided) a hair's breadth away from giving up on it.

In response to the other question, I do have video clips of my son, William, which I CAN see :-) These are Quicktime .mov from my Olympus camera.

Phew, that's a relief since it is more often than not QT/.mov files digital still cameras which cause the greatest difficulty for users!

As for "us" having a fact sheet about the trial version, that is a very good idea. The only problem with it, though, is that none of us who work here are Corel employees. We are all users like you who volunteer our services to help out others, so we have no control over documents which might be issued by Corel concerning their products.

And if we were to post our own fact sheet at the top of this Board, why should users read that any more than they apparently read a sticky which actually says 'Read this before posting'????

Ok, we know you can "see" it, but wasn't your original problem about "hearing" the clip?
