I'm sorry to be a pain in the butt, guys....
I haven't been doing anything different (I don't believe I have) but now when I play back .avi files I have created in 4:3 they are out of proportion. There are skinny black horizontal bars on the top and bottom of the frame and the image is now wider than it should be. I did NOT place a check mark in the 16:9 box when starting VS11.
Anyone familiar with this problem? Thanks in advance.
4:3 Isn't 4:3 Anymore

Are they out of proportion in the preview screen of VS or after you have burnt a DVD and are playing it on a LCD widescreen monitor?
It's sounding like a probable monitor problem but you have given us not enough information to go by.
Perhaps you answered the questions in the "read this before posting " thread we might be able to pin point the problem for you

I'm sorry my info is so vague. It's just that there hadn't been any problem until a few days ago. I'm still fooling around with things trying to perhaps find the culprit.
The VS preview screen was doing it a day or two ago but now it's not.
The .avi files are still out of proportion when I view them on Windows Media Player.
I did a search in the forum ("4:3") and it came up empty.
By the way, this isn't the only thing that's changed since I've installed the full version. I was so pleased with this program using the trial version and after first having the full version up and running, but now.... I don't know.
Appreciate all your guys' input.

Did you install the full version without uninstalling the trial version. That has sometimes caused problems in earlier versions - not sure about v11. Anyway, the following thread describes a "clean" reinstall process.By the way, this isn't the only thing that's changed since I've installed the full version.

It could be your source videos.
Trim down one of the source videos to about 1minute.
When you render "UNCHECK" "Perform Non-Square Pixel Rendering".
If you don't have this option available (depending on how you are exporting) then you may have to uncheck this option under your "Project Settings".
Depends on how you are exporting the video(s) and also what Format/Codec the new exported videos are.
This problem happens alot with avi container codecs. Some codecs only use Square Pixels.

Thanks guys. I will try unchecking the square pixel option (if it isn't already). I also need to do a "clean uninstall" and reinstall VS11+. I did delete the trial version (add/remove programs) before installing the full version but maybe some of the trial stuff that remained in the computer is causing this.
