Adding all chapters on one menu...

Post by Rach »

I have a 30 min project with 10 chapter points. I would like to have all 10 chapter titles to appear on one page not 3. Is this possible? In other words...i dont want the viewer to have to flip through pages to see all 10 chapter options.
Appreciat your help!

Sorry, it doesn't really matter which version of VS you are using, there is no standard menu template in any version which will accommodate 10 thumbnails/clips. Some of our members have developed their own, and I think that might me on our freeware page. Or you can try making your own menu, though that would require Ulead PhotoImpact, as that has the proprietary .ufo format which the templates in VS use.

You might want to try using the add/edit chapters, but under advanced settings turn off the create chapter menu. This way you can use the next chapter button and quickly flip through the chapters that way.

I've always disliked the chapter menu options offered by VS but I enjoy the editing and rendering capability of the programs.

Hope it's not a sin to say this here but that's why I use other software for creation of my dvd program. I like Sonic's DVDitPE program - I have an older version that still does a great job. Newer versions even allow you to encrypt to copy protect your dvds.

Anyhow, this program like some others doesn't demand a thumbnail to create chapter points. I usually import a jpeg from my video for chapter menu background and then use simple text for each chapter point so I have gotten over 20 chapter points in a single menu page.

The great strength of VS is it's simple user interface with reasonable features and functions for a comsumer editing platform - I love it!!!

So use it to edit and then render as mpeg2 file that you can open in another program like DVDitPE for your conversion to a burned dvd.

A number of forum members have requested a DVD Menu containing 12 thumbnails AND text. I have created the following in 16.9 format only.

Save your file to one of the following locations and then restart your program.

VideoStudio 10+
C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio 10\Content\Menu Template\16x9\Bonus

MovieFactory 5+
C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead DVD MovieFactory 5 Plus\Ulead DVD MovieFactory 5\Content\Menu Template\16x9\Bonus

I have been meaning to ask this before, Steve, but where would it go in VS11 or MF6? I have just copied it into the 16x9 > Customise > Scene Selection Layout folder of VS 11 (there is no Bonus folder, as you would know)... but when I started VS11, it did not show up under 'All'. I notice, by the way, that that folder had a separate little 'settings' file... but I suspect one would have to change one of the .dat files elsewhere... (running in Vista).

Thanks, got it. My mistake had been that, as I said, I put it in the C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio 11\Content\Menu Template\16x9\Customise\Scene Selection folder. But it does appear now that I put it just under the 16x9 folder...

Do you mean that if you encrypt a DVD it cannot be copied?

Thanks for that menu!

Great job. Much needed. Why would they take away from VS10 the corkboard thumb I was using. Grrrr. Thanks again.
