Can Movie Factory 6 .........

Post by DiscCoasterPro »

Hi all. I'm about to surrender a long standing problem with DVDWS to try Movie Factory more deeply. I have a few basic questions regarding the program that can save me quite a bit of experimenting if anyone can help.

1. Can Movie Factory somehow use the buttons, objects, and frames from DVDWS?

2. Can I create my own buttons, objects, and frames and import them to Movie Factory?

3. Can I capture a single frame from a clip in Movie Factory (as in DVDWS) and use that jpg. as a background for a "create from scratch" menu or must I use one of the Movie Factory templates as a starting point?

4. Can text in Movie Factory be customized, rotated and also used as a button in a menu for a chapter marker?

5. Does Movie Factory have custom configurable bit rate settings available with presets?

thanks very much in advance for your time to answer these questions. :)

Please view:
Tutorial: PhotoImpact: Creating DVD Menu from scratch
I have included in the tutorial how to import buttons, objects, frames and other items from DVDWS and other Ulead programs into PhotoImpact to use in creating your own purpose built DVD Menus.

2. Can I create my own buttons, objects, and frames and import them to Movie Factory?
See my above answer, using PhotoImpact you can create your own,

3. Can I capture a single frame from a clip in Movie Factory (as in DVDWS) and use that jpg. as a background for a "create from scratch" menu or must I use one of the Movie Factory templates as a starting point?
You can use any JPG image you like as a background image for your DVD menus. Obviously a suitably sized JPG image will provide better results than one stretched or shrunk.

4. Can text in Movie Factory be customized, rotated and also used as a button in a menu for a chapter marker?
Text can be customized and rotated. It cannot be used as a button - but you can of course create a purpose built DVD Menu with PhotoImpact where you have created a button from text.

5. Does Movie Factory have custom configurable bit rate settings available with presets?

Yes.
