However.......and this is where it gets a little interesting, when I copy over entire directories from MF to VS8 which doesen't have these directories such as " vacation & Festivities", they do not appear in the Template directory drop down of VS8 when creating a DVD under Share.
Why.......?
.ufo files copy over and are shown in the template menu OK, why not new complete directories?
Help.
Sorry for the late response. I can't answer your why question but don't add the directories, just rename the templates so that you will recognize what they are and add them to the "Favorites" folder.

If I remember right you have to add a reference to them in one of the .ini files located in the c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Ulead\Video Studio 8 directory. I've done it, it works. When I get home tonight I'll post exactly how to do it.

Menu Templates???

Post by nobieone »

Mike or anyone out there,

Just got a question. On V. 9 can you modify the templates just remaining within its program and not using PhotoImpact?

What I mean, on my early post I asked if you can do some modifications on V.8, but thank you to all those who answered my post said there are limitations to the program. Other posts said you could utilize either MovieFactory 4.0 or DVD Workshop but I just have V.8 and thinking of upgrading to V.9.

Thanks for the help...

Hi,

You can modify without PI, but you will likely need some program to modify the size of the menu and so on.

I've been playing with making menus from VS9 and DVDMF4. It's pretty easy with the tools available.

PI also has a free plug in that allows for more sophistication in certain conventions, but the tools in VS9 are quite good, too.

I don't think you can modify the files outside of VS or MF without PI. They are UFO's which are proprietary Ulead files. I'm not aware of any other program that's licensed to open them.

Hi,

First select the background - video or still:

Then Customize:

Change the scene design, frame and button scheme.

Add to the menu template.

It will show up under My Favorites.

For VS8 , you can find content CD data at

ftp://ftp.ulead.com/pub/esd/videostudio8/

I presume that content_cd_e.exe is the English version, and that the others are French & German versions.

To add a menu template folder to VS8 you need to add two string values to the registry. The first is to point to the location on your HDD and the second is to name it.

I tried to post a screen shot but failed.

Here is the registry key where you need to make the additions. Take a look at the ones already there and it should be easy to figure out.

My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio\8.0\Template.

P.S. I've been having alot of trouble getting onto this site lately, anyone else experiencing this?

Merlin.

Thanks for the reply.
Yes I have also been getting the "page unavailable" message when trying to access this page :?
Is the server getting hammered by users and reached it's bandwidth
limit :?:
I'll try the registry teaks later and make a post.
I think it's worth it as I don't want to flip flop between programs getting templates and then having to burn using something else etc.
I want a one stop solution with all the bells and whistles. :D

Oh yes, before one of my esteemed members of this board has another pop, I'll say it for him...........what do you expext from $100 software....yawn.

If software is out there to "ENHANCE" my legally purchased product, and I can make these changes by introducing these features from other legally purchased software titles, at my risk, I don't see why I shouldn't do it :?:
invention at it's best eh. :D

Please notice the heavily used words "legally purchased" I'm not into piracy
