I use VS9 and have had an issue with the menus.
What I want to do is extremely basic. I simply want a single page to appear with a heading and thumbnails. Why do I always end up with *two* pages? The first appears to be a "main menu" which contains a single thumbnail for the entire project, and the second (the only one I want to see) contains the thumbnails for within that project. It appears that the main menu is supposed to contain several projects, each of which would have a second sub-menu. As I have only a single project, I don't need two menus.
How can I get only one menu???
Hope I am being clear. I am sure there is an easy way to get around this
but I have tried everything.
Thank you for your help.

When you get into the burning module (Share > Create Disc > DVD), the first page is where you insert the video you want to burn. It also has the Create Menu box (ticked) and above it the Add/Edit Chapter button, which you have apparently already used to make your chapters. So you only want the chapter menu to appear and not the main menu...?
Easy. When you move on to the Next page, you choose the template you want for the menu from the Gallery tab. But there is of course a second tab behind it, labelled Edit. Select that.
And down around the middle of that, there is an Advanced Settings button. Click on that, and you can there un-tick the Add Title Menu item, but leave ticked the Create Chapter Menu item.

Thank you Ken. I am still appreciating your help from a year ago, which is the last time I used VS. My recollection was that I had VS9- I was wrong- it was VS8. Please (again) accept my apologies for this error.
In VS8, I don't seem to see an "advanced settings" button.
I think the problem occurs when I go to the template screen. There is no edit tab or a gallery tab behind it. At the top of the screen, next to "currently displayed menu" there are always "Main Menu" and the second menu (the chapter menu) as drop-down choices. The main menu always appears first with a default format, consisting of a single thumbnail for the whole project. Whatever I do I can't seem to stop the Main Menu from appearing in the DVD. I can get rid of the title and the caption under the thumbnail, and I can change the template, but I can't suppress the thumbnail or the menu itself. I fear that this issue was addressed in VS9.
I have tried to convert the Main Menu into the chapter menu but have had no success.
Is there any remedy at all?

Thanks Ken. I did consider it, but too complex to fix such a little issue. I would go with a later version of VS but I don't make a lot of DVDs, and
VS8 does do most of what I need (and want.)
My source is generally my Fuji V10, mostly for stills, but it also does some very nice .avi videos. I use it in place of a dedicated camcorder. The resolution isn't bad and I get good results even when I blow the finished product up to 6X8 ft size with my Panasonic PT-AX100 projector. It's not HD but it's eminently watchable. I use an upscaling DVD player which seems to help also.
Just thought you might like a little extra detail.
