Requirement: Windows Media Center

Post by deonholt »

Hi again.

I just want to make sure I have everything I need seeing that I cannot run the templates from the Movie Maker Wizard.

I have noticed that a requirement from VS is Windows Media Center. Do I have this on my machine as part of XP Prof SP2 or is this an additional download?

Thanx for your help!

Windows Media Center is an operating system, like WinXP, WinME, Win2k, or Vista. Windows Movie Maker, Windows Media Encoder are examples of applications.

You might want to check to see if your drivers for your video card, and DirectX are current. You can go HERE and download the latest MS Direct-X drivers. The most current is dated Nov. '07.

Um, Ron, Media Center *Edition* (MCE) is the operating system. Windows Media Center (WMC) is the main media program in Vista! My problem in the OP's question is that I have no idea what he means when he says it is "a requirement from VS". It is certainly not a system requirement, as far as I am aware. Nor am I sure WMC is available for XP, though it might very well be. But I don't even use it in Vista, even though I set up the TV aspect of it!

I know I never had it on my XP Pro SP2 computer I used for video editing, and VS11/11.5 worked fine on that computer without it...

Hi Guys.

On this page: http://www.ulead.com/vs/sysreq.htm it says the following about requirements:

Microsoft® Windows® XP SP2 Home Edition/Professional, Windows® XP Media Center Edition, Windows® XP Professional x64 Edition, Windows Vista™

As I did not know that Win XP Media Center Edition is an OS, I did not know if it is part of XP Prof or a separate download.

Thanx for your help.

It will run on your machine as u have XP pro. There just happens to be different flavours of XP. Your quote above is an OR
